Why did my question get removed?
I was asking about a question in the Ethnic foods section about whether it true that Filipinos really drink cat poop in their coffee. But it got removed. It was actually a serious question, because an instructor at my college told us about it, and I was wondering if he was kidding or not.
I'm quite offended.

Read the article closely, PLEASE. No, they do NOT drink cat poop in their coffee. And the answer above is misleading.
The 'cat' is a civet -- and it eats the coffee berries (what WE call beans) and excretes them WHOLE. They are then gathered and WASHED, so there is no remaining 'poop' associated with them. However, the enzymes of the digestive system do seem to work some magic on the coffee berries / beans -- which makes it more flavorful and less bitter.
So, while there is a tiny grain of truth in what your instructor said, it is not, in fact, true.
