Is this too much dark brown?
I have a huge entertainment center that is a mahogany color along with a coffee table the same color, a fireplace mantel and a mirror above it. The walls are cream with white trim and I would like to have amber colored pillows and curtains with a pattern on them. I am trying to decide on a sofa color. I would love chocolate brown but would that be too much brown for one room?
Also the carpet is neutral with different colored neutral specs throughout.

Rooms look best when they have at least 3 different colors or 3 different shades of the same color (light, medium, and dark brown for example). It sounds like you should be OK. Maybe put some jewel-toned throw pillows on the new sofa to add some interest such as burgundy, greens, etc. =)
