Any ideas for sprucing this trunk up into a coffee table?

I'd really like to get this trunk and use it as a coffee table. However, i'd like some ideas as to what I can do to add some unique touches to it. I don't watch nearly enough HG TV... but I feel like there's got to be some cool ideas out there for this. Help!!

Cool trunk with good bones. There are so many ideas depending on your decor. You can add embellishments like wood appliques which can either be painted or stained. Check both Home Depot and Lowes because there a lot to choose from. You can add a piece of glass to the top and insert postcards, pictures, ticket stubs, really kind of memorabilia to form a collage. You can use tiles, stone or broken tiles to create a mosaic on the top. You can add feet to raise it up (these can be as simple as drapery finials, or fence post topper or you can find great selections at upholstery shops). You can add hardware of almost any sort to the sides to match your theme or decor. You can decopage items of interest on to it anywhere to make it look like a vintage travel trunk. Really the possibilities are endless, you can distress it further, you can add stain or glaze, you can paint it ...

I've heard that people make coffee out of Chicory, is this true?

Is it the kind of chicory that grows wild on the side of the roads?

Coffee with chicory has always been popular in the South, particularly around New Orleans.
We only drink coffee with chicory. It has a wonderful rich robust flavor for half the cost.
I order a case (12 pkgs) of Luzianne Regular and a case of Luzianne DeCaf about once a year. I mix one package of each and store in a container.
It only takes about 2 1/2 T. to make an entire 10 c. pot of coffee. When we travel, I pre-measure bags of the brew to take with us.
When my husband was deployed, the thing he missed most, next to me, was his coffee.
By the way, the Luzianne Company continued to pay its employees at full pay during the Katrina tragedy. Good socially conscious company.

Is there a difference between caffeine in Coffee and caffeine in Coke?

I recently concluded that i get very upset (stress, sometimes even some sort of a panic attack) when i drank some coffee (only 1 cup really). It would be logical to assume it is because of the Caffeine. However, because i can drink a few glasses of coke without a problem, i find it kind of strange...

Also, is there a way to drink something to counter (neutralize) caffeine? Sometimes the panic attack takes and heartbeats take a long time. Thank you.

yeah coffee has about double the amount of caffeine as coke. most pops with caffeine have 35-50mg (pending on brand) per can and coffees have ~100mg per cup. but like the first guy said caffeine is caffeine, there is just a lot more of it in coffee.

the "long" heart beat is probablya PVC palpitation, i get them too if i have a lot of caffeine. theyre harmless but annoying. feels like your heart beat really fast twice then pauses for a second, then the next beat is really hard im guessing? youre probably kinda sensitive to caffeine like me, limit yourself on caffeine or buy some caffeine free coke/decaf coffee

Damned If I Do Ya ( Damned If I Don't)- It's about a flaky relationship where neither of them are ever really happy ("damned if do ya, damned if i dont"); he puts everything in towards the relationship, and shes still disappointed. he makes plans, she blows them off, etc. but he still doesnt wanna quit and so they continue this insatiable cycle.

Jasey Rae- Alex: Umm…Jasey Rae is a girl, obviously, [laughs] from Pennsylvania who…I met, the first time we played this venue. Things happened and I felt bad. So I wrote a song. It’s meant to really be like an apology, just basically, things happened but I didn’t mean to be a dick about it. What tip would you tell people to make their cooking more spectacular?

One time a dear friend of my mom (RIP mom and Madeline) mentioned to me that her secret for making her boxed mixes taste like homemade was to add 1 tsp. of vanilla extract. It does really make a difference, I think.
Also, Paula Dean says to add 1 tsp of instant coffee to brownie recipes and I do think that is yummy and gives a more intense flavor.
What tips do you have to offer?
I can't wait to read them!

Balsamic vinegar - even just a teaspoon into pretty much anything I'm cooking! Vegetables, meatloaf, mushroom-wine sauce, whatever. It just brightens everything up a little in a very subtle way.

I also have been known to sneak a teaspoon (or even less) of sugar into vegetables that I'm cooking. No one knows it, but they know that the squash or peas or corn or carrots taste really, really good

I think I'm down with the bloggers' blues. I just started blogging this Thanksgiving and only got one follower and about 150 views. I'm a bit disappointed since lately I'm not getting as many views as I've been getting. My blog is meant to be super eclectic and quirky because I want it to have a casual vibe, as casual as any topic discussed in a cafe or coffee house. My blog goes from music to fashion to art to food to trinkets to observations of society and the 21st century human being. I aim to provide a warm, friendly feel to my blog through sharing thoughts and pointing out cool little "anythings". I'd really appreciate it if you would actually look through my posts, content, writing and tell me what I'm doing wrong and what I'm doing right. I want constructive criticism cause I'm tired of feeling discouraged about doing what I love to do- write. Thank you!
