Coffee Carafes
Why is it that a fresh pot of Folgers Coffee gets an oily film on it and my Maxwell Coffee doesn't?
My coffee pot and carafe are both clean. I use the same water source for both coffee types. Also I have had no problem with Hills Bros. Please do not tell me that I should not buy any more folgers because I already know this. Thank you.
Coffee beans contain a significant amount of oil and this is where much of the coffee's flavour comes from. The entire point of brewing coffee is to extract these oils from the beans into your water, so a little bit of an oily appearance can actually be a desirable trait.
I'd find it a little troublesome if the Maxwell coffee doesn't seem to show any trace of oil at all. Most likely, the difference is caused by differences in the roasting process.
