Coffee And Philosophy

What's this philosophy?
Say, for example, you are walking to get coffee. You come to a corner and can turn left or right, doesn't make a difference as to you getting to your destination. If you turn left, nothing happens and you get your coffee, no problem. If you turn right, you meet your true love, or you get hit by a bus, something monumental. A small decision on your part, you had no way of knowing the outcome, changes the course of your life.
We effect the lives of others in so many ways, through small actions, many times without even realizing we are doing so. Is there a kind of philosophy that address this way of thinking?
I am interested in people's personal philosophies but also if someone could name a philosopher who wrote about this, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
On the happenstance, I'm a scientist. I'm humming the ninth while I walk down the street, and looking down, I see etched in the sidewalk "Ode to Joy". It is not so strange, it is still a very popular song, I may have seen the words etched there before, without realizing it, etc.
If you want to read into coincidences then you may want to look into synchronicity, or some religious interpretation.
I am told these long stories how a person comes to understand a deeper reality, and they are always of the form that Augustine confesses to... the book opened the page that answered my question!
